Study Groups and Small Groups at HRBC
Spring 2008
We invite you to participate in a small group or study group at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. The groups outlined below are designed to help you grow and mature in the Christian faith and enable you to become a disciplined follower of Christ. Groups meet for a specified period of time, and participants must commit to consistent preparation and involvement. A small group is different from a traditional Sunday School class because there is built-in accountability and the expectation that participants will share out of their faith experiences.
Please note the start date and time for groups.
If you have any questions, contact Terry Maples at 272-2072, Ext. 12.

Parenting: The Early Years
Facilitated by Lisa Brown, Room 211-A
Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott are best selling authors on marriage and family enrichment. They are a very solid Christian couple that has been featured on Christianity Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, Focus on the Family, The New York Times and they’ve even made their way on Oprah.
The newest resource written by the Parrots is Parenting: The Early Years, a video-driven study that goes deeper than any technique of just getting kids to eat their broccoli and clean their rooms. This resource takes a Biblical approach into the traits parents want their children to have and what traits they want their children to see modeled in them.
On this six DVD series, a team took cameras into the homes of 20 families and captured real-life parenting moments. Some of these are funny moments and some are just completely honest moments that every parent can relate to.
Lisa Brown will facilitate this study on Wednesday nights at 6:00 p.m. beginning on February 20. This is a great study for expecting parents, parents with children or even grandparents who are find themselves raising grandkids. Come and learn because we all know children don’t come with instructions.
Parenting: The Adult Years

Do you find yourself struggling to relate effectively with your young adult children? The transition from meeting most of your child’s needs to relating as adults is difficult for most parents. What boundaries need to be established? When am I showing concern; when am I meddling and trying to control? When should I speak and when should I keep silent? If you would like to gather with a group of parents who are learning to navigate this important time of transition with their young adult children, this group is for you. The group begins at 6:30 p.m. on February 20.

This group is for you if you are currently in your twenties and asking any of the following questions: How am I supposed to figure out who I really am? What if I’m scared of the opportunities ahead of me? Am I supposed to have all these doubts? How do I work out the right balance among my career, family and other relationships? Beginning on February 20, we will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at Café Caturra (Alverser Drive) to discuss these issues and more. See Melissa Fallen for more details.
