Sub-Sites

How do I go about having a sub-site set up for my group, class, or ministry?
Sub-Site Setup
  1. You should already be subscribed or registered with the main HRBC site.
  2. Contact the admin with the following information:
    • Name of the group, class or ministry. This is how the sub-site will be listed along with all other sub-sites (found here)
    • Will your sub-site be public or private. In almost all cases, the sub-site should be public (open for anyone to join)
    • Who will be the sub-site admin. You can have more that one sub-site admin. The sub-site admin(s) will be responsible for maintaining their own sub-site. This includes any news, calendar entries, forums, member subscription to the sub-site, etc (The main site admin will be available as required for assistance or training)
    • Provide a brief description for the group, class or ministry. This also will be listed with all other sub-sites (found here)
  3. Once the main site admin receives the above information, your site can be added. You will be notified when the setup is complete.
  4. After the site is set-up, you can navigate to your new site. You will see the following under the menu and navigation area:

You are an administrator for this group. Make Changes

Click on the "Make Changes" link. There, you will find all of the options available for your site. Explore each option listed to see all that you can do with your site.
As a sub-site admin, what do I need to know about forums?
Managing Forums

Forums on a sub-site are useful for allowing discussions among your group. A suggested way to use them for Bible Study classes would be to create several topics such as Class Prayer Requests, Class Missions, Class Outreach, etc.

As a sub-site admin, your will be responsible to maintain and monitor your sub-sites forum. If you decide to remove a topic or category (because it is old, inactive, or no longer applicable) you will need to archive the page to a file. The easiest way would be to, within your web browser, go to the File Menu and choose Save As. Choose the "Web Page, HTML only" option. Once you have saved the file, email the file to me and I will archive the file on the site. Do not feel as if you need to remove the forums quickly. Keeping forums and other content on the site, even if not active, allows new users as they sign up to get a feeling of the history and how the site has evolved.
